Copperfasten choses Espion for its flagship Anti-Spam and Anti Virus Product

  12-October-2004 - Copperfasten™ Technologies; Ltd.

Copperfasten, a leading Irish developer of security products, today announces it has appointed Espion as the Irish Distributor for its newest flagship product, The Mail Firewall Appliance.Copperfasten, which originated from the Altavista development team based in Galway in 2000, has a wealth of IT security and internet experience. This experience has led it to develop commercially attractive security products and win top names as customers, including HP, Waterford Institute of Technology, TG4 and Smartforce.

Ronan Kavanagh, sales manager for Copperfasten UK and Ireland, said the choice of Espion as its Irish distribution was obvious: "Espion has carved out a worthwhile reputation as one of the leading security companies in Ireland. In addition, its championing of quality Irish security products over mass produced global products has created a general awareness and openness of local expertise amongst Irish business customers." "Espion has developed a strong, security led reseller base which will be ideally suited to sell our product."

Copperfasten’s Mail Firewall Appliance has a number of key advantages over its competitors largely due to the approach it takes in dealing with Spam and viruses. Unlike many other products the Mail Firewall Appliance focuses not only on the identifaction of Spam and Viruses but as importantly on how the issues are managed within organisations right through from the installation process to end user requirements. It is a preconfigured plug and play hardware solution, there is no client intervention required, and there is an empahises on providing end users with the tools to manage spam themselves rather that having to continually resort to an organisations IT department for assistance.

Espion’s Jim Lehane, commercial director, is delighted to welcome the Mail Firewall Appliance to his portfolio of security products. "Ease of implementation and use are both key selling points for our end customers," says Lehane. "In addition, there are a couple of clever approaches that mark the Copperfasten product, aside from its proven quality engineering, from the crowd of anti spam solutions on the marketplace. One feature that is very attractive is that the updates, which can be hourly for virus and spam protection, are done automatically. The IT Manager does not have to check or set up prompts. The solution is self updating. Another feature which is also very attractive for IT Managers in the shifting of Spam management onto the end users. Although the IT Department configures the management settings on the Appliance, end users are empowered to view, release and whitelist any mails directly from quarantine reports sent to their inbox, freeing up the IT manager to manage actual threats and viruses," says Lehane.

Mail Firewall Appliance was launched earlier this year in Ireland and is fully scaleable. According to Kavanagh, the solution is as easily used for 50 users as for 10,000. "In fact, it still only takes under an hour to install the solution in either scenario," he says.
