| De Montfort University Secures E –Mail with Copperfasten | ||

ITS Feda Group has implemented the Copperfasten Mail Firewall Appliance in De Montfort University to protect over 30,000 staff and student email accounts from viruses, spam, malware and unwanted content. One of the key goals for the University and the Information Services and Systems Directorate that manages central computing is continuous improvements in the quality of the learning environment for students and staff. Information Services and Systems at De Montfort chose the Copperfasten solution following an extensive evaluation of several product offerings on the market. According to Peter Holt, Senior Support Specialist with the University " We looked at a number of solutions prior to running with the Copperfasten Appliance. While all offered benefits, Copperfasten had a number of features that set it apart. It offered excellent virus and spam detection rates combined with functionality which enabled users to manage their email more proactively, thus reducing helpdesk traffic. It is also unique in its ability to fit seamlessly into our existing email infrastructure at a price that took into account the large number of email accounts we service." ITS Feda implemented two Copperfasten MFA1000’s in a load balanced failover cluster catering for upwards of 30000 users. The De Montfort email infrastructure extends across three campuses using a combination of email servers and web mail. "This solution was the obvious choice for an organization of De Montfort’s size and complexity. Having put it into a number of other third level collages we had already seen how effective the Copperfasten solution was. The economies of scale it exhibited in these sites were even more evident in the case of De Montfort."said Mike Mena, Account Manager with ITS Feda. "The Copperfasten solution went live two weeks ago, running all the mail for DMU. To date, we have seen a good reduction in the amount of unwanted emails such as spam ." said Peter Holt.
